Kind, Wise, Inspiring

Stefan Kim

Dear Dean Hollibaugh,

It still doesn’t feel real that the year, and this course, is over! Even though I wish this class wouldn’t end, it’s been moving to stand at the end of this journey and reflect how we got here: from the epic (no pun intended) beginning with the Iliad, to reflections prompted by Confessions, to the very fitting ending with Milkman’s flight, perhaps mirroring our leap from this class and into the future.

To be honest, I didn’t have high expectations for this course coming in. The mixed reviews about the core curriculum coupled with online classes guaranteed, in my head, that this would just be another uninteresting class I’d have to get over with. I was completely wrong. This class was everything I could ask a class to be - the engaging material, brilliant peers, and an amazing instructor.

Before I get too sentimental (I might already be), let me end by saying thank you to everyone for letting me listen to and learn from you, and most importantly, thank you Dean Hollibaugh for not just being a great instructor but such a kind, wise, and inspiring human! I can’t wait to gather again as LitHum 14, this time as actual humans instead of faces on a screen.

Sincerely,

Stefan Kim
